Just A Random Idea
by Kokilavani - 20th September 2019
“An idea is salvation by imagination”-Frank Lloyd Wright. It all begins with some random idea from some random person. An idea from a guy labeled as addled by his teachers was the one who brought light into our lives. That guy is Thomas Alva Edison. Ideas regardless of their scale, small or big, still exert power over evolution. Without ideas humans would have never evolved from prehistoric ages.
This is about a group of students from the Faculty of Languages and Communication in UniSZA, whom came up with an idea of forming an Editorial Club with the intention of establishing a platform for students to express their talent in writing, photography, videography, website editing, proofreading and many more. Instead of creating a magazine they decided to create a website as it is in line with technological development, cost friendly and most importantly, environment friendly.
The website was created with sincere intentions of helping students practice their knowledge in journalism, literary writing, and public relations writing. Apart from being a platform for students to express their existing skills, this website also plays a role in helping students with education and their future career. Most graduates nowadays are not well versed in the fundamentals that is required for them to be absorbed into the industry. Let it be from creating a resume, or even just the basic dress code for an interview. Thus the founders of the Student Editorial Language Association (S.T.E.L.A) decided to provide a platform to guide the students on these issues for their shared benefit.
The founders of this website aspire to expand this website in the long run and make it into something that will be a great impact to the students in terms of their development as an individual. They strongly believe that their random idea of creating this club will pay off because Victor Hugo once said that “there is one thing stronger than all the armies in the world, and that is an idea whose time has come”.
